Nebula Now
Deep black countless years ago explodes a world unfavored
Impossible to end this way, the moment never savored.
A wicked trade how hard they prayed exchanged for silent sorrow
The words they said would burn unread, forgotten by tomorrow.
With tears undried they tried and tried to worship as demanded
To somehow please this wrathful God, to do as it Commanded.
Not in a thousand lifetimes wasted could they all have known
That life is but the bread they'd tasted. They were all alone.
Colors then would stain forever, sigh across the hour
Drift into my eyes like some surreal galactic flower
I can't press play, cosmic delay me weak interpretation
Stare thru glass at lifetimes past, this long-forgotten Nation.
Brains ablaze I gaze amazed for days at this Explosion
Sun come undone and rendered astrophysical erosion.
100,000 light years deep I sit and wonder how
This ancient, once reveared and vivid Nebula looks now.
